Wanderlust – 50 Reasons Why I Love Maldives
My first international trip was to a place I will never forget.
The beauty of Maldives enchanted and captivated me. I didn’t want to leave this paradise on earth and get back to my mundane life. I left a piece of me behind and wish to go there once again. I fell hard for this place and here are the reasons why –
- The breath taking first view of Maldives
- The speed boat (or seas plane) ride from Male to the resort.
- Maldivian hospitality
- The gorgeous water villas surrounded by the ocean on all sides
- The crystal clear water that lets you see 20 m deep
- Relaxing on Beach
- The White Sand Beaches
- Watching ghost crabs skitter away
- Sharks swimming beside you
- Relaxing on the sundeck in your villa watching the beautiful sunset while reading a book.
- Sleeping beneath the stars (being a city girl this was a rare occurrence)
- The sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep
- The greenery
- The different varieties of tasty foods to choose from
- Burger King (so much better than McDonalds)
- One of the best places in the world for Scuba Diving
- Waking up every morning to the most magnificent sunrises
- Mesmerizing sunsets
- The cool ocean breeze
- The song of the Cuckoo’s early in the morning
- The enchanting beauty of the island
- Underwater Life – no words
- Water sports especially snorkeling
- The view from the villa
- Photographers paradise
- The picturesque beauty of the island
- 50 Shades of Blue of the ocean water
- Beautiful Grey Heron
- The bioluminescent phytoplankton
- Fishes jumping out of the water
- Wild dolphins swimming and jumping around you
- Meeting people from all over the world
- The serenity and tranquility
- Being disconnected from the digital world (no phones, no internet. Just us and the ocean).
- The beauty of the resort during the night
- Sipping drinks at the cocktail bar overlooking the ocean
- The smell of the ocean
- The beautiful night sky full of stars
- Sitting on the steps on your villa with your feet in the ocean and looking into the vast and endless ocean.
- The rich living corals
- Building sand castles or writing on sand
- The boats
- Spotting a stone fish and not knowing it is the most venomous fish known to man
- Spotting different and beautiful fishes and trying to figure out what they are.
- The privacy
- Time spent in Maldives is rejuvenating
- Getting lost in beauty of the island and losing track of time
- Watching sword fish hunt sardines
- Walking along the beach with ocean washing the feet
- A true paradise on earth
Reason 51 – It was my first vacation with my husband and hence will forever hold a very special place in my heart :).
PS – I will write more about the place and share more pictures later :).

Thanks for the nice travelogue. Also, thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. We wanted to go to Maldives last year. But when I looked up the hotel prices, it was ranging from $400 to $600 a night. I thought that was too much. May be I did not look at the right websites. Can you give some suggestions? Thanks.
Harini
Maldives is breathtakingly beautiful albeit a bit expensive I won’t say otherwise. Check booking.com and hotels.com for the prices. You might get some good deals there sometimes. There are a few resorts that are bit more economical than few and also it largely depends on the type of room you want to stay in. For example, a water villa will cost a lot when compared to a standard double room(on the beach).
For around $350 a night, you will get a standard beach double room with an all inclusive package(Inclusive of 3 meals, snacks, drinks and water) which I believe is a very good deal. Not to mention there is also a mandatory speed boat transfer(to and fro) which will be an additional $400(depends on the resort you pick).
Do let me know if you are planning something and I will try to give more information. 🙂

A bit late but nevertheless an awesome post. Maldives is one of the best Honeymoon destinations and no pictures can justify the beauty of Maldives.
Although a bit costly but I am glad we chose Maldives as our honeymoon destination. Beautiful weather, crystal clear water, Amazing sea life, Awesome food, Perfectly clear night sky and most important of all – seeing your loved one glow with happiness. It made me forget the rest of the world. What else can a man desire?
Not sure when but sadly, it is said that one fine day all is gonna disappear under the ocean due to melting of ice caps and rising of the seas.
Hopefully someday we can revisit the magical world of Maldives again.
Harini
Man… you always make my heart melt. Anyways, I am glad we went to Maldives. It was a true paradise on earth and being there for our honeymoon was a dream come true. The place was gorgeous and beautiful but the guy I had beside me stole the show for me. I want to go back there sometime soon :).
